Credit Reports
Were you aware of the fact that you have 3 different personal credit reports? And the fact that all these three credit reports can have a different set of information? This is because there are three Credit bureau agencies namely Experian, TransUnion and Equifax to which your lenders and creditors report data to. Each lender/creditor reports to one or two of the above mentioned 3 credit report agencies. So in order to manage a good credit profile, you need to view all three credit reports on a regular basis. Did you also know that the information in this report can be given a numerical value called ? Your credit report and credit score are the two primary methods that creditors and lenders make a credit decision about you.
Your credit score is a numerical summary of your credit report. Since it's a number, creditors and lenders can easily assess your credit risk to make a decision about extending a loan or credit card to you. Credit scores range from 300 – 850.
Credit Repair
Did you know that you have the right to dispute information contained on your credit report? When you dispute bad credit with the credit bureau, they have 30 days by law to verify the information. If the information cannot be verified, it must be deleted.
Note that whether the account is "really" yours or not has no bearing on their responsibility to verify it. If it cannot be verified, it must be deleted. Period.
